Rip's Page ...

Rip then...... and Rip now

Affectionately known as "the old guy," Rip is the type who hasn't quite figured out which age he's headed for next. On the one hand, and like most men, he's a complete child with interests in comic books, trading cards, models (no, not the kind with big boobies), and cartoons.

A product of the 60's drug culture, Rip often found himself plunked in front of the TV for many hours (like 23) each day. It was there that he gained his taste for The Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, Batman, Star Trek, The Banana Splits, The Monkees, Hogan's Heroes, The Munsters, The Honeymooners, and The Twilight Zone. Further to that, we have Rip's interest in British comedy, including The Goodies, Monty Python, The Goon Show, Sorry I'll Read That Again, and the Carry On gang. And if that's still not enough... we haven't talked about cartoons. Oh my God, if you only knew how many cartoons poor Shred has had to suffer through since marrying this guy. The Flintstones, Old MGM and Hanna Barbara Cartoons, Looney Tunes... the list just goes on and on and on...

Rip's favorite people (aside from those already mentioned) include Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Serling, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, The Marx Brothers, and Jack Benny.

It was the cartoons that led Rip to his insatiable appetite for Old Radio shows. (Notice how that's not the typical insatiable appetite for most men? Well, I *told* you he was different.) Mel Blanc the cartoon voice genius led to the discovery that Mel Blanc had also done numerous Old Radio shows. Soon Rip was hooked. Now, if he's not in watching the TV, the only place to find him is "watching" the radio (he does that, you know) or crawling the OTR web site.

Once old enough to handle his own money, he quickly figured out how to blow vast quantities on comics and trading cards. It didn't matter much which ones they were. Superheroes, Sports cards, Non-Sport cards... we have an entire basement full of this crap.

As an adult (hee hee), Rip discovered a further interest in computers, even becoming a somewhat reputable repair/network technician. Favorite haunts on the Web include the Novell web site, Windows 95 and Windows NT web sites, and various other hardware and software sites.

Believe it or not, Rip has friends too. And they both have their own web sites. Alecia's is chock full of links of her own, and Lou hosts one of the biggest set of links for Old Time Radio sites. Okay, so Rip only has two friends. He's truly pathetic and REALLY needs more. Drop him a line, would ya? I know it'd make him the happiest little camper on the block.
