Shred is known in many circles simply as "Red." She is sharp-witted and svelt, with beautiful (and, yes, natural) red hair, and Rip spends most of his time worshipping at her feet. Shred has a wide range of things that she is interested in.
From an early age, Shred was a head-banger of the first order. As a Rock and Roll baby, she has been able to continue listening to her favorite classic rock on The Bear. Shred's musical tastes - unlike Rip's - are pretty well defined. She has a great respect for her idol, Randy Rhoads. Last year we were able to see Shred's favorite Rock and Roll gereatric, Ozzy Osbourne. More recently, Shred focused on getting tickets to KISS, Metallica, and the Tragically Hip.
Shred met Rip while they were both enrolled in a post-Secondary computer program. She has developed into a pretty good little computer wizard. She enjoys flipping around the Internet finding stuff to download and (hee hee hee) "cleaning supplies".
When it comes to watching television, Rip can't possibly compete with this girl. She hogs the VCR six days a week. On a regular basis she tapes stuff like Seinfeld, 3rd Rock, NewsRadio, Ellen, Friends (go figure). She's never missed an episode of ER, and still prefers the first season of Murder One (she has this thing for Teddy). And due to the influence of a certain friend in Arizona, Shred has developed a taste for shows like Politically Incorrect, and people like Howard Stern and Don Imus.
Shred also reads a lot. When she is able to pry herself away from the TV, Shred will wrap herself up in a good book by Stephen King or John Grisham. She also likes to read books on real-life psychos and mass-murderers (studying for a new career?)
Now we get to the famous guys that Shred thinks are hot! First of all there's the ever sexy Kurt Russell and Sam Elliott ("Smelliot" as Shred affectionately refers to him). And the rest of the list includes such comedy legends as Dennis Miller and Steven Wright.
One of the most out of place interests Shred has is a fairly recent interest in crafts and, in particular, cross-stich. The Rip/Shred household is now adorned by more than a few of her "projects." Quite often, you can find Shred designing her own patterns with her favorite craft software.
Being a great parent, Shred has developed an interest in education and parenting. She likes to read about the best ways to become a better parent. For most people, not having kids is often a suggestion heard from Shred. Seriously though, Shred spends a great deal of time beaming over Junior's latest accomplishments and helping him to reach his next ones. Junior is Shred's primary - and chosen - career.
